Course Description
Students will read and respond to texts analytically and creatively. They will analyse arguments and the use of persuasive language in texts and create their own texts intended to position audiences. Also students will compare the presentation of ideas, issues and themes in texts. - an understanding of a set text including characters, settings and events, and ideas, issues and themes
- identifying the ways in which meaning is affected by the contexts in which a text is created and read
- learning the conventions of oral presentations including intonation, stress, rhythm, pitch, timing, volume, gesture and eye contact
- applying and identifying the features of analytical responses to a range of literary and other texts: structure, conventions, and language including relevant metalanguage
- identifying the ways authors construct arguments to position audiences, including through reason and logic, and persuasive use of written, spoken and visual language
